Bike shorts might be my favorite item of clothing ever, as they’re versatile, comfy, and the perfect item to wear under summer dresses. I was keen on wearing a pair whenever the occasion warranted, but after trying on the Satina high-waisted bike shorts, I don’t know that I’ll ever want to take them off. The material used by the brand—what Satina calls its “peachskin” fabric—really is “buttery soft.” It’s a polyester blend that’s lightweight, non-irritating, highly stretchy, and unbelievably comfortable. Unlike similar bike shorts, I barely notice that these are on, and I’m more than willing to admit that I found these shorts to be so comfortable, that I wore them an entire 24-hours. To buy: $18; amazon.com. Since I’ve never tried on the brand before, Satina provided me with samples of the shorts in both a medium and large. I would traditionally go for a medium in bike shorts, but after wearing both, I prefer the large. It gave me just a bit more room, particularly in the thigh area. The medium fit, but it was more of an athletic, snug fit than the looser, more cozy feel I was searching for. One of the shorts’ best features are the two long pockets that run along either side that allow me to carry my iPhone securely and hands-free. I wore the shorts (and occasionally hand my phone on my side) under a dress, while riding a stationary bicycle, and during a day of working from home and never found myself feeling uncomfortable. The high-waisted band only added to the whole experience, and was snug and secure, but didn’t feel as if it was too tight. Online shopping remains a personal headache, but the Satina bike shorts give me hope. In fact, I’m already prepared to grab a few more pairs.
